Warning this is going to be a big post. After last week’s sneak peek of these two, I got a lot of people asking me if they are a gothic couple and if they hired the mime to follow us around on this shoot. The truth is that mime just happened to be walking by while we were playing around downtown. Really this session turned out really great and has made me even more excited to shoot their wedding in May.
Tommy and Rilee Engagements Downtown SLC
March 5, 2010Sneak Peek (Utah Wedding Photographer)
March 1, 2010This was an awesome engagement session with a close friend of mine. I’m excited to post more from this later, but for now I’ll leave you with this picture with the creepy mime.
RAYN – Yarn Twisted
February 12, 2010My neighbor contacted me with a bit of a proposition. She does some great crochet work and has done a few pieces for me in the past. She offered to make a bunch of newborn hats and cocoons for me, if I would take some pictures of her hats that are currently for sale on her Etsy site. I knew that my friend Lexi would be a perfect model to show off these hats. It was a lot of fun and I’m excited to do some more.
If any of you own a boutique or have items you sell on Etsy or anywhere that would benefit from professional pictures, lets talk.
Foggy Morning
January 17, 2010For those that don’t know I am working on a photo a day project, and this morning the fog gave me some ideas that I wanted to try out. Since there were a few I wanted to share I decided to post some more here. To see the photo of the day project click here.
Mitra and Matt E-Session {Utah Wedding Photographer}
December 27, 2009Getting to know Matt and Mitra was a lot of fun. The thing that was most impressive to me though, was how tough Mitra was, out in the below freezing weather. I felt like my hands were going to freeze off and I had a coat and boots on.
Matt lives in China while Mitra lives in California. So as you can imagine when they get together its hard to separate them. We did this shoot at Matt’s grandparent’s cabin. The location was just beautiful.
Merry Christmas
December 24, 2009Keith Bryce Shoot
December 23, 2009This shoot has been sitting in my to-do list for months now. So long, that I can already see an improvement in my pictures.
A while back I seized the opportunity to do a shoot with the designer Keith Bryce. His name might sound familiar, if you are a fan of Project Runway on Bravo. Julie Parker and Keith Bryce, organized seven photographers, including myself, four models, and three stylist to meet at an old sugar factory in North Ogden. We spent a few hours exploring the place, shooting, and just having fun. Out of no where, this dude in a truck pulls up, and starts screaming obscenities, and telling us to get off his property. Before we could even think he whipped out his rifle, from the passenger seat of his truck, and had it pointed at the obviously threatening models. As we cautiously approached this lunatic, he was screaming so hard, spit was spraying all over us. After a few minutes of trying to calm him down, and trying explain to him that we were given permission to be there, we gave up and decided to find a new location. Thankfully we were all able to get out of there unscathed.
When I got home and told my wife the whole story, I also discovered that in the whole confusion, I had also lost an entire 4gb card of pictures. I was more sick about losing those pictures, than I was having a crazy guy point a gun at my face.
Crazy story aside, I had a lot fun and learned a lot about what goes into a fashion shoot. I also think I got a few cool pictures to show from it.
Texie and Cole Wedding
December 22, 2009Last week I had the awesome opportunity to second shoot a wedding with the great Julie Parker. It was a lot of fun to see her in action and to get more wedding experience. Weddings are so much fun. I love to be a part of the couple’s special day. Thanks Texie and Cole and especially Julie for inviting me.
Last Family of 2009 The Jacobs
December 22, 2009This year has been a lot of fun. I got to know a lot of great people and have done some fun, interesting shoots. Here is the last family session of 2009. I don’t do a lot of indoor locations, but when its below freezing and the family has a beautiful little new born baby, you’re forced to find a warm windowed location. The Salt Lake Library was a perfect solution. The little girls were perfect little posers. Without any direction they would put their hands on their hips and throw their chin towards their shoulders. It made me laugh every time. Thanks again Jacobs.

St. Thomas Family
December 9, 2009Sometimes its hard to be happy and smile when its freezing cold outside, but this family did a great job. When looking at the little girl you might think she wasn’t very happy, but I think if you considered how cold it was, I am amazed she didn’t bawl her head off when the blanket was taken off. In fact, I loved the stoic look that she would give me. I never had to fight for her attention though, her eyes were glued to my camera. I love finding new places to shoot, and this blue wall was really fun.
