Sami and Blake Wedding

I love this time of year. I love all the family parties, the positive atmosphere, and new resolutions. One of my resolutions last year was to find more time to blog. Well here I am making up for last year’s slacking. Sami and Blake had such an amazing wedding. Sometimes I get to share stories with other photographers about cool things we’ve experienced at weddings, and I have to say the hot air balloon is one of the best. This wedding seemed so action packed. I remember coming home and crashing on the bed, ready to pass out. The dancing, in particular, was off the hook! (Yes, I’m aware people don’t say “off the hook” anymore.) Looking at these pictures makes me forget, for a second, how bitterly cold it is today. I hope you warm up looking at them, too. Enjoy.

These two are so in love and you can just feel it when you’re around them.

Brianna + Kyle: Amazing Backyard Reception

As far as backyard receptions go, this was the best I’ve seen so far. The time and thought that went into every detail sent this wedding over the top. They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck and I think that’s what Brianna heard all day long. The weather at the temple was beautiful, but the clouds were quickly getting darker. By the time we reached the home for the reception it had begun to rain. The tables were decorated, the lights were strung, and it was time for some family pictures. Then the first gust came and knocked vases and candles over. Then the rain got harder and everyone retreated into the house for shelter. Brianna was so sad as her husband, dad, and pretty much everyone else, continued to tell her that it would clear up and to just keep smiling. Sure enough, as people were about to arrive, the rain stopped. A rush of neighbors and friends scattered to reset the tables and get the food on the table. We snagged a bunch of group pictures and the party began. And believe me, it was an awesome party.

This middle picture is a great example of a family request that probably only family would laugh at. But in case you have seen the movie Hotrod, Brianna’s brother Daniel is doing the Richardson dance and it cracks me up every time.

Many of you know that my wife does some amazing wedding invitations, but I just had to show this one off. It’s one of my favorites that she has ever done. This heavy stock kraft paper was so cool and the ink was hand screen printed onto the paper. If anyone is looking for a custom and beautiful wedding invitation you should for sure give her a call.

There is nothing cooler than having your grandpa whip out his sax and play some sweet jazz music. He was really good, too.

There are many opinions about dancing and rocking out at a wedding, I have to say I am a fan. If I could do it all over again, I would learn some sweet moves and dance at my wedding. The dancing at this wedding was so much fun I couldn’t resist jumping around a bit myself. I even caught Trevor with Haugen Creative set down his camera and show off his skills.

Everyone wants a unique send off. I’ve seen Harleys, Horses, awesome cars, and much more, but the scene of 50 or more balloons with LED lights in them, slowly drifting off really stunned everyone. I think we all stood there for five minutes just staring. Kyle’s family owns the Zurchers stores and they had this great idea.

Abbie and John – Bridals

I just shot this couple’s wedding yesterday and was told by a couple of the guests that I needed to update my blog. I sometimes forget that people look at this daily and want to see something new. So here I am, updating my blog.

I love shooting with horses. Its always a challenge but the results are so fun. When I discussed this session with Abbie and John they mentioned that they would like to shoot in Covered Bridge Canyon, which I had never heard of, but I’m so glad they had. It was so beautiful and John’s horses were just gorgeous.

Annie and Kacey – Bridals

Annie and Kacey are a great couple. I recently photographed their wedding and had so much fun. I’ve been meaning to share their bridals with you, but I’ve been crazy busy lately. Originally we wanted to shoot up in Albion Basin but as luck has it, it snowed a couple days before our session and the roads were closed. I’m actually glad that happened because the colors that were in the valley that night were just beautiful.

Lovin the Fall

Can I tell you how excited I am to shoot this couple’s wedding? First of all, these two are awesome. They are happy people, and a lot of fun to be around. Second, the first question they asked me was, “would you like to shoot our wedding in Cabo?”

Um, YES!

When we sat down together to discuss what we wanted to do for their engagement session, we discussed bikes and their dog in the mountains. But then they saw the shoot I had done with Zuri, the zebra. Catherine called me and said that the owner of the zebra was a family friend of hers. Then she told me that she really wanted to have her engagements with the zebra.

So here comes obvious question number two, “would you shoot our session with the zebra?”

YES!

I’m always impressed bye feats of will power, and these two have that. They both finished the 208 mile LOTOJA bike race in September. I’m sure there is some metaphor for marriage in there somewhere.

Viansa and Nick – Engagements and Bridals

I just got home from Viansa and Nick’s awesome wedding in Salt Lake at The Pierpont Place. It was a lot of fun. I have shot a lot of her friends weddings so it was nice to see so many friends there. I’ve had so much fun with these two. At the Engagement session we talked about music, wakeboarding, cars, and marriage and just had a lot of fun.

Viansa is seriously one of the nicest and sweetest girls I’ve ever met, and Nick is a guy I could totally hang out with and consider a good friend. When I got home from this shoot I told my wife that I hope our daughter marries someone like him.

Nick is a crazy good skateboarder and total goofball. I could tell he was just itching to do something fun. So I had him do a couple back flips and this little spin move over Viansa. I love it when I meet couples that not only accept there spouses goofiness but encourage it. These two are just meant for each other.

For the Bridal Session Viansa’s Parents came along and had a lot of fun embarrassing these two. You wouldn’t tell from these pictures, but Viansa has a hard time kissing in front of people. I think after the bridals, and the wedding day, she got a little more used to it.

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your awesome day! Nick I’m still waiting for your next band recommendation. Don’t think that just because you’re on your honeymoon your off the hook.

Nicole and Eric Spokane, Washington Wedding

What an absolutely beautiful wedding. The Spokane LDS Temple is located in a little valley surrounded by beautiful tall pine trees. We lucked out that it didn’t rain much as we walked around the temple taking pictures. When we arrived at Beacon Hill I was stunned by the amazing view of this reception center. As you can see from the pictures there was a beautiful hill that lead to an awesome pond. Thanks to Nicole’s two friends Eliesa and Jeck, who followed us around and helped make some of these fun pictures. Thank you Nicole and Eric for asking me to come and photograph your special day.
