Wow, this was a very productive weekend. Six blog posts in two days. We were in San Diego Last week, I’ll post those photos soon, and as you could tell I got a little behind. I had to end it all with some pictures of my two gorgeous kids. The pumpkin season is almost over and I was afraid I was going to miss it.

Sorry Julie to make you wait so long, but here is a quick peek at two of my favorites.

It’s rare to find a family of older kids, that are still willing to get close and hug for photos. You could tell that these guys were not just family but also good friends. Caitlin, the high school senior, was a natural in front of the camera. She claims it’s because she is in a photography class and because she is a huge fan of the TV show America’s Next Top Model. Either way she was a lot of fun.

Schow Family

October 24, 2009

Well the sneak peak of this family was a huge hit so I’m excited to post some more. For those of you trying to think of a good idea for your family pictures, documenting a family activity, like coloring together, really turned out well. Jen, your creativity and cute family really made this a fun shoot. Thanks again.

Sunday mornings

October 2, 2009

As far as church goes, I have always thought the earlier the better. This year our church has been at 1:00pm. So we are lazy all morning, go to church, and then it feels like the day is over. Last week we were all dressed and ready a little earlier than usual, so we went for a little drive, and found this cool place. I think this would be a great place to use for an engagement session or senior session. Its not a very colorful place so vibrant outfits would work well here. Like all parents I love every picture taken of my kids. I love seeing their personalities stand out in every shot. These are no exception.

Schmidt Family

August 13, 2009

Wow life has gotten busy. I feel like my blog has been so slow lately, and its not from a lack of content. Here is a family session I did a few weeks ago. It was a fun session and I’ll never forget how the mom got the youngest child to smile. She gave him her chapstick and said, “Throw it at mommy”. His eyes would light up and the he would chuck it as hard as he could and bust up laughing. Unconventional but apparently very affective.

Kaitlyn Urban Session

July 2, 2009

Get ready this is going to be a big one. I have tried and tried to narrow this one down and this was the best I could do. There were so many fun shots in this one. I had to laugh at the end When Kaitlyn said, “I hope I didn’t ruin it.”
I learned something funny about her. She has the biggest fear of birds pooping on her. To her defense no one likes it but she puts this fear right next to being attacked by killer whales. I would get the shot all set up, look into the view finder, get it all in focus just as a bird would fly over and she would be gone. It was so funny. She brought along a couple of her girlfriends as moral support but they couldn’t help but laugh at her irrational fear as well. Kaitlyn is one of those girls that is such a naturally happy person that she couldn’t help but smile the whole time. At the end we decided that it would be a lot of fun to get a bunch of their friends together for a group shot someday. If anyone else would be interested in a group session let me know.

Senior Collection

May 29, 2009

As promised here are some of my favorites from the shoot way back on Mothers Day. I had a lot of fun and learned a ton. I discovered that, although I love shooting children, Seniors are much easier. The girls were great to work with and enjoyed being the center of attention. (Imagine that) Taylor was a total stud, and the camera obviously loved him.
Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Last weekend I attended a great workshop by Brianna Graham. Her style and technique was very interesting to learn. Working with other photographers was another great part of workshops that I enjoy. I’m excited to integrate some of the things I learned into my style. Here is a sneak peek of the photos that will be coming soon from the Urban session.
